PG05 is keenly aware of the emotional damage caused by the tsunami. When we can, therefore, we do what we can to bring relief and smiles to as many residents as possible.
At least one night a week, dedicated volunteers visit a camp that has been selected as the scene for cinema. Through a bit of improvisation in the field, our imaginative crew has devised a system that projects the image of the night’s feature onto a large, white tarpaulin donated by United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR). Many of the camp residents who turn out for the movie night enjoy the Sri Lankan family films we offer. The movie nights are extremely popular.
Needless to say, we could not bring such relief without the dedicated volunteers who set up the equipment and present the films after a long day of work in the field or one of our two warehouses. With continued assistance, we will be able to continue this project well into the future.
A huge thanks to Dan, David, Juan and Annoushka.
A very special Thank You ! to the wonderful children in Plancenoit/Waterloo (Belgium) for their hard work and effort in raising funds for this project. Your contribution has helped bring many smiles to the people here in Sri Lanka.
