Welcome !

welcome!

In 2005 Project Galle showed movies in over 70 camps in locations ranging from Balapitiya in the north to Matara in the south and as far inland as Walahanduwa. This project which has been paid for out of PG05 general funds since its inception has been extremely popular and successful.

PG06 is continuing with the tradition of driving out to IDP camps every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and showing locally made comedies to an incredibly appreciative audience. It pays to keep in mind that the tsunami hit over 13 months ago now and the occupants of these camps, in a lot of cases, have no idea when they might be getting out.

An enormous number of the volunteers that have passed through the doors of Project Galle have, after spending a hot day out in the field, happily joined the film crew to assist with setting up and with entertaining the kids.

I am also very pleased to announce that this worthwhile project has finally received some funding. The organization, Friends of Unawatuna, have now donated a sufficient sum of money to ensure its continuance for many months to come. A big thank you to FOU for their generosity.
